Today we are actually going to head out and do a patrol in the wilderness. I will cover the basic ins and outs of conducting this type of patrol in the wilderness. This will be a daylight patrol, because patrolling at night is entirely different subject. And definitely, far more difficult in comparison to daylight patrols. So buckle up, strap in, and get ready. Before you go out – make sure all the SOPs(standard operating procedures) are in place, contingency plans have been left with the rear(yes – they need to know where you are going), the gear is secured for silent running, and EVERYBODY IS TOPPED OFF ON WATER!

Today we are going to talk about water filtration from the perspective of a single apartment dweller. And why the filtration system used from the Bug Out Bag/Kit can be used to keep the water clean in that apartment environment. Best of both worlds and saves the individual some money to boot. Unfortunately, some of these systems up for discussion today are on the pricy side.
Now, for those of you have a family, adding some type of filtration system, like a Berkey to your preps at home will probably be ideal. These systems are meant to serve larger families/groups and keep the water flowing. And of course, stocking up on extra water to supplement the filtration system is a good idea as well.

Lat
Drinking enough fluids everyday is important for proper body maintenance and basic human survival. A human will only survive 3-5 days without water depending on climate conditions and activity levels. Sometimes a person can survive longer without fluids, but those occurrences are rare. Depending on activity level and climate, a human should consume 2-3 litters of fluids a day.
Drinking water is usually the best way to consume fluids. That is because water is usually the least expensive fluid and the most abundant. Water usually has no additives or preservatives in the fluid. And has no calories, so it is great for losing weight.
Other fluids like coffee, tea, juice, milk, and soft drinks help with the hydration process as well. However, some of these fluids have caffeine in them. Caffeine is a diuretic and a diuretic will actually quicken the dehydration process if too much is consumed. That is why people who consume several cups(5-6) of coffee a day, will have to take additional trips to the bathroom as their bodies react to the increased amount of caffeine in their systems.
Drinking two to three litters of fluids a day is not that difficult at all. Plastic 2 litter pitchers can be purchased at a thrift store cheaply. It is also important to purchase clear pitchers. Clear pitchers allow a person to monitor how much fluid is being consumed during the day.
In conjunction with the clear pitchers, use a large cup with a large diameter rim. The large rim will allow more fluids to be consumed at one time. Screw on water bottles are great for traveling and the outdoors, but usually inhibit the fluid consumption process. It’s simply easier to drink from a large open receptacle when compared to having to constantly open a container to acquire the needed fluids.
Summer heat and working out can lead to dehydration quickly. Dehydration can be identified by examining the color of a person’s urine. Clear urine means that enough fluid is being consumed by the body. Yellow urine is a sign that the body is not getting enough fluid and more fluid should be consumed until the urine becomes clear.
Dying from dehydration is not fun. It is actually a fairly dreadful way to expire. So please, consume enough fluid everyday.
