Episode 241: 30 Minutes With The Poor Man Prepper(11/5/2012)…
Show Summary:
Join me today as I discuss various topics on what I like to call a potluck podcast. On the board for today’s show – the election, Hurricane Sandy, fuel shortages, and fasting. This should be an interesting show. So buckle up, get ready and hold on. The show is about to begin.
Show Notes/Topics:
Election
-
Look for economic reality to set in after the election
-
Fiscal cliff, world recession/downturn, or from war with Iran
-
No war with Iran – look for gas prices to continue to fall
Hurricane Sandy Aftermath – Fuel And Security
-
Locking gas caps – small investment
-
Why you should pick one up for your ride
-
After experiencing what happened in Charlotte, NC in 08 – the situation in the northeast does not surprise me
-
Restraints of the supply system delivering gas to other parts of geographical areas if refining capacity is shut down in that area
-
Do not place all of your eggs in one basket
-
Consider researching and buying a portable diesel generator
-
In case of flooding – the generator can be moved – mobility rocks!
-
Diesel is easier to get a hold of in crisis situations and storage is far safer in comparison to gas
Fasting
-
I have never went more than a day and a half during for a fast
-
Trying to complete a two-day fast
-
Why I think fasting is important for survivalism and preparedness
-
Remember the videos last week of people dumpster diving for food
-
Understandable to a certain extent, if the food was needed for family members
-
But for individuals? A person can survive for weeks and will not die from starvation
-
Obviously, if you are emaciated(very thin), fasting probably is not for you

Episode 154: What Happens When Gas Prices Are Too High?…
Show Summary:
Inspired from the podcast episode yesterday concerning food or lack there of, led me to the topic for today’s discussion? What happens when gas prices are too high? A valid question as we look into the future during uncertain times. In preparedness, we can plan, improvise, and adopt to the situation once it arises. And gas, or lack of it, is something that directly affects how we spend our disposable income every day and plan for the future.
Show Notes/Topics:
-
What happens when gas prices are too high?
-
We are being pushed on several fronts – the stock market drags commodities like oil up, and gas follows
-
Quantitative easing from Central Banks will increase prices over time
-
Peak oil – as the easy to extract oil sources are disappearing
-
We went through the easy-to-find oil in a very short amount of time
-
Developing countries like China and India are a large part of the market now
-
There populations dwarf ours
-
The American citizen will see their disposable income disappear as gas prices rise
-
The plus side – as communities, we will become closer and good ideas, plus new concepts will arise when local communities start to thrive again
-
Will you be willing to walk to closer destinations, ride a bike, ride a horse, use a moped, or motorcycle to travel when gas prices become to high
-
Will we adapt and start to use the abundant natural gas resources in this country to fuel our vehicles

Hello folks,
This a fuel update, as I work towards refilling my gas tank to full capacity.
My apologies in advance, as this post is from a mobile phone WordPress app and I have no idea how this is going to turn out.
And after with $25.00 added to the tank…
This is an easy prep. Anybody living in an urban area should have their fuel tanks topped off, or as close to full as possible.

Actually my fuel tank was full on Tuesday. I am just now posting the pics today. Speaking of today, I had to go in and cover another shift for a fellow employee. So in my near state of slumber this morning, I decided to stop at a convenience store and buy an energy drink. I also put another $10 dollars into the tank. That will serve as my mid-week refuel/top off and put me on a schedule now were I can refuel during the weekend, like Sunday. And then top the tank off on, let’s go with Thursday for the moment. But that is it, the tank is now full. Yeah! I just have to be sure to refuel during the middle of the week to keep the tank full.
And after $25 dollars of fuel,
