Episode 389: Economic Failure – Argentina and Japan(5-24-2013)…

Show Summary:

As the currency wars continue to unwind between nation states, the world economy slowly grinds to a standstill. Japan, with its recent embarkment in Abenomics has seen significant gains in the Nikkei stock exchange. However, at the risk of increasing sovereign bond yields that could make interest rates unsustainable for Japan. Throughout the last 20 years, this game economic Russian roulette has been played by the BOJ and the government of Japan. Soon it will be game over.

The same can be said with Argentina, as the communist led government under President Kirchner slowly destroys an economy that once flourished. Now the economy of Argentina is slowly succumbing to another nightmare of debt and destruction, as the economy slowly grinds to a halt due to high inflation.

This is a basic concept – stay in your lanes

What does that mean?

A firing lane is the direction that a shooter is facing while putting rounds down range – usually at his/her 12:00(direction of travel)

Imagine a clock on a wall – the hour hand is facing at 12:00 for example and then facing at 1:00 and so on

The 12:00 o’clock position is always the direction of travel, with the 6:00 o’clock 180 degrees to the rear(hence the old adage, “check your six”)

As long as that shooter has a clear field of fire in his/her firing lane, everything will be fine

When working with other people during life fire exercises, meandering into another person’s lane could get you killed, or severally injured

Blue on blue/friendly fire incidents happen all the time and are unfortunate – unnecessary occurrences

It is also the responsibility of the shooter to try their best not to shoot friendlies, but this can be extremely difficult in high stress/hostile situations, or night-time shooting operations

This takes practice when working with other people

Pop Up Targets

Pop up targets gives the shooter instant acknowledgment that they have correctly placed rounds in the target that they were shooting at(also instant gratification)

When the targets are hit, they go down, only to come back up in the next shooting rotation, or set at the firing line

These targets are almost always electronically controlled

Usually pop up targets are configured to look like a human, but they don’t have to be

Great shooting tool for learning and fun – try to go to a range that has these targets, as it is a unique learning experience

Firing Lanes

This is a basic concept - stay in your lanes

What does that mean?

A firing lane is the direction that a shooter is facing while putting rounds down range - usually at his/her 12:00(direction of travel)

Imagine a clock on a wall - the hour hand is facing at 12:00 for example and then facing at 1:00 and so on

As long as that shooter has a clear field of fire in his/her firing lane, everything will be fine

When working with other people during life fire exercises, meandering into another person's lane could get you killed, or severally injured

Blue on blue/friendly fire incidents happen all the time and are unfortunate - unnecessary occurrences

It is also the responsibility of the shooter to try their best not to shoot friendlies, but this can be extremely difficult in high stress/hostile situations, or night-time shooting operations

This takes practice when working with other people

Episode 386: Fitness Prepping – Hiking(5-21-2013)…

Show Summary:

After the previous weekends hike/backpacking trip, I learned some unfortunate truths about myself. For one, even though I’m physically in good shape, I was depleted in terms of energy by the end of each day. The main reason for this level of exhaustion was that I have not been walking – hiking – backpacking with weight on my shoulders, back and hips the way that I should have been before the trip.

Carrying the everyday gear needed for basic survival is a test of endurance that a person can grow into, with enough practice and time working out with that weight. This is a most, as there could be a time when we need to get out of dodge, but with no vehicle to take us to our destination. That means slapping our bug out gear on our backs and hoofing it out of danger.

And of course, the opportunity to go out in nature and get dirty is a huge plus. Especially if you have a temporary, or permanent bug out location in the wilderness. For most of us in the modern world, we simply are not use to going days without showering and normal personal hygiene. Sure does make that after-workout shower meaningful and special.

Hiking/Backpacking

Hiking gives individuals a chance to build endurance – a great workout

If you ever had to hike out of a bad situation, then being physically able to carry your bug out bags, plus other equipment is a most

Helps teach balance, depending on terrain and the weight being carried, balance is crucial

Additionally – hiking and backpacking allow for the field testing of gear to see how that equipment holds up

And gives us the chance to be apart of nature, take in scenery, get dirty, smell bad and makes us a heck of a lot more appreciative of modern-day conveniences, like showers

The consideration for bugging out is an absolute most for all people having to leave their homes at a moments notice. However, just leaving and aimlessly meandering through the county side is not an option, at least not a viable, logical option. Making plans now for heading to places of safety is the best way to ensure the survival of yourself and family members, especially for people living in large urban centers.

Where To – Part 1

Lets talk about your destination for today

Do you have family, or friends at the bug out location

This is important – having more people at your initial, or permanent location will help to secure the site/home

Plus – other people who you trust, will help you relieve any stress that you and your family members might be enduring from having to leave your homes on short notice

There are a variety of reasons for leaving ones home quickly – some of those reasons could be very traumatizing, especially for younger adults and children

As I have often discussed before – what is the environmental situation at the bug out site(s) – monitoring the local weather conditions and news at the sites is a most

How far will you have to travel?

Is the first stop a refueling or resupply stop location/rally point before heading to permanent/semi-permanent location – multiple rally points?

Next week – Part 2

Are you bugging out alone – having alternate routes of egress to the bug out site

Show Notes/Topics:
Where To - Part 1

Lets talk about your destination for today

Do you have family, or friends at the bug out location

This is important - having more people at your initial, or permanent location will help to secure the site/home

Plus - other people who you trust, will help you relieve any stress that you and your family members might be enduring from having to leave your homes on short notice

There are a variety of reasons for leaving ones home quickly - some of those reasons could be very traumatizing, especially for younger adults and children

As I have often discussed before - what is the environmental situation at the bug out site(s) - monitoring the local weather conditions and news at the sites is a most

How far will you have to travel?

Is the first stop a refueling or resupply stop location/rally point before heading to permanent/semi-permanent location - multiple rally points?

Next week - Part 2

Are you bugging out alone - having alternate routes of egress to the bug out site

On today’s show, I will discuss my trip on the Appalachian Trail last week, an epic mistake that I made and how I held myself accountable for that mistake. It’s a story of lack attention to detail on my part. However, when horrible mistakes are made, that doesn’t mean that all is lost, as I was able to find a solution to the problem through endurance and sheer will. Plus – I will discuss how the SteriPEN Freedom worked out in the field. I was not disappointed.

Also, I wanted to discuss some additional show changes. I have decided to do away with weekend podcast and just focus on the content that I love to talk about during the week. This way I will have more time to blog and make YouTube videos. The Monthly Entrepreneur will be fit into the weekly rotation, as I love to talk about business and being an entrepreneur.

Show Summary:

No notes for today’s show, cause I really did not feel like categorizing everything I said on today’s podcast. So I’m just going to include the gist of today’s podcast in the summary. And the main reason for this is because this show, in its entirety, is a rant against the totalitarian government that has simply became too large and uncontrollable in modern America.

I personally feel that we, the average citizens of the US still have a say in what is happening in our country. In the podcast, I refer to the citizens as the adults and the government as a child that has simply gotten away with too much. Unfortunately, the parents have been horrible adults. But like most adults, we can regain control of our behaviorally challenged child by simply being firm in our conviction and saying, “Enough is enough.”

This will not be easy, as the voting system that we believe in as a representation of true democratic freedom is a farce. The needed change can only take place in grassroots movements, where community and trust is built. Acting together, there is unity and corporation towards a common a goal. The rescue of our once great country from the clutches of quasi tyrants and thugs. The saving of our nation is a worthwhile endeavor, as other people from across the world still look at America as a bastion of freedom and true hope.

When we look to our politicians for answers to these problems, we see cowards and liars. Leadership is needed, not cowardly politicians who point fingers at each other when there is problems on the horizon. A true leader takes responsibility for problems and rises to the occasion to fix the wrongs. My friends, we are the leaders and it is not too late to make a difference.

Episode 380: Firearms And Preppers – Range Safety And Favorite Firearm Reads(5-16-2013)…

Show Summary:

On today’s show, I will discuss properly implementing range safety when shooting at out outdoor firearm ranges. Common sense approaches applied to legitimate safety concerns are a must when putting rounds down range. Trust me on this one, as I have been down range during a supposedly cold shooting cease-fire, only to have bullets still head towards targets while I was potentially at risk of being hit by a stray. Stupid people will always do stupid things in the most precarious of circumstances.

Range Safety

Follow range rules – most ranges have rules posted so that they can be read by all

All firearms should be treated as loaded, even if they are not

Check the firearm to see if there is a round in the chamber, even if you are sure that one is not present

Keep firearms pointed down range – especially when loading, or examining the weapon – NEVER point a firearm at a person

When the range is cold, it’s cold – do not be messing with a firearm on the firing line, loading, or aiming at a target when there is still people down range

Be considerate of fellow shooters

<itunes:summary>Episode 380: Firearms And Preppers - Range Safety And Favorite Firearm Reads(5-16-2013)...
Show Summary:
On today's show, I will discuss properly implementing range safety when shooting at out outdoor firearm ranges.
Show Notes/Topics And Links:
Range Safety

Follow range rules - most ranges have rules posted so that they can be read by all

All firearms should be treated as loaded, even if they are not

Check the firearm to see if there is a round in the chamber, even if you are sure that one is not present

Keep firearms pointed down range - especially when loading, or examining the weapon - NEVER point a firearm at a person

When the range is cold, it's cold - do not be messing with a firearm on the firing line, loading, or aiming at a target when there is still people down range

Be considerate of fellow shooters

So when it’s time to go, then go. Do not be that person who decides to put themselves, of their family members in peril because of limited planning. Or even worse, no planning in advance. Remember, that sitting around and pretending that everything is okay in a modernized world leads to complacency and complacency is a stone cold killer.

Show Notes/Topics:

Destination

Have a destination to head to in advance – preferably with people who you trust(like family members, or friends) at a safe location – cache food and other supplies at that location, so that you will not be a burden

Waiting It Out

Do not wait it out – with modern technology, there is no reason to sit around and wait to the last second to get out, when more than likely you already had advanced warning

Proper Mentality

Material possessions can be replaced, lives can’t – maintain the proper mental attitude – when it is time to go, then go

Get prepared now – be informed, gear prepped, destination to head to, routes of egress, plans for picking up the kids, and leaving work

I personally think that we get to involved on problems that we aware of – for instance the Federal Reserve, the economy, peak oil, terrorist attacks just to name a few

As preppers, we try to get ahead of the curve – we do this by making plans for the future and purchasing preparedness gear within our financial means

However, there is no reason to get bent out of shape because of “potential” disasters

Adult Podcast

This is an adult podcast - you are now officially forewarned

Happy Mother's Day

Go give mom a hug and a kiss

Short Podcast Today

It's a holiday, so today's podcast is going to be short and to the point

Avoiding Prepper Fatigue

I personally think that we get to involved on problems that we aware of - for instance the Federal Reserve, the economy, peak oil, terrorist attacks just to name a few

Sometimes we get to involved and to worried about events that we have no control over

Waiting For The Inevitable

As preppers, we try to get ahead of the curve - we do this by making plans for the future and purchasing preparedness gear within our financial means

However, there is no reason to get bent out of shape because of "potential" disasters

Make a plan and stick to it - talk to your prepper friends and family members to make sure everybody is on the page

Television And The Two Worlds

I will probably piss a lot of people off when I get to this topic, so please take it with a grain of salt

Living in two worlds - the make belief existence(The Matrix) and the land of the real

Show Summary:

On today’s show, I will discuss why the Federal Reserve sucks and how this American central bank has enabled the debt nightmare that this country is currently living through. Also, I will discuss why the current stock market rally is a farce and why a severe correction is due in the future.

Other topics for discussion today include the decrease in gun crime throughout America, as firearms sales have increased dramatically over the last fifth-teen years. However, most Americans think that gun crimes have risen during this time period. The main stream media(MSM) has sold this line of crap to gullible American sheeple. Go figure?

I finish the podcast off by discussing why we should stay out of Syria, the possibility of losing control of the internet due to a government shut down/take over. Also, why we should not be sacrificing our young boys and girls who serve in the military, by pissing away their precious life blood in far away lands that most Americans have never even heard of.

So why not stock up now? Particularly, firearm and automotive parts that have either a short life span, or need to be replaced due to consistent wear and tear. For instance, barrels and firing pins for firearms. And spark plugs, hoses, lug nuts, oil filters, air filters and drive belts to just name a few automotive parts that can be stocked up on.

Show Summary:

On today’s show, I will discuss the importance of non-lethal carry as an alternative to using lethal force. In some states, or jurisdictions, non-lethal is the only alternative that a person might have to defend themselves. A variety of non-lethal alternatives exist, including range defensive items like pepper spray and tasers, to collapsible batons for close quarter engagements.

However, every situation is different and sometimes non-lethal alternatives might not be a viable option. This is why concealed carry firearms are so important, as sometimes the last option available is to use deadly force. Fortunately, there are dozens of states in America that offer “shall issue” licensing standards for people who are interested in obtaining concealed carry permits. For most of these states, most applicants will have to prove to they are not a felon, or a domestic violence offender to the local issuer of concealed carry permits. And provide some type concealed carry training, or have a military background.

Show Summary:
On today's show, I will discuss the importance of non-lethal carry as an alternative to using lethal force.

Fortunately, there are dozens of states in America that offer "shall issue" licensing standards for people who are interested in obtaining concealed carry permits. For most of these states, most applicants will have to prove to they are not a felon, or a domestic violence offender to the local issuer of concealed carry permits. And provide some type concealed carry training, or have a military background.

I believe in the concept of living in the ready. Time to go strategies to get my butt out of dodge when the SHTF. In the modern-day world, supported by fossil fuels, our system of dependence is only one sustained power outage away from disaster.

So on today’s show, I will discuss the advantages of being able to get out of doge on the quick and why this is so important. Not on only is thinking ahead important for your well-being, but the well-being and safety of your family as well.

Also, I will reference historical perspectives from the German invasion of Russia during World War Ii and draw analogies from those historical references to support my conclusions. This is important to consider, as natural disasters might not be the only reason for needing to leave in a hurry. The reality of today’s world, is that we need to prepare for as many contingencies as possible when faced with evacuating an area while trying to find safety.

 <itunes:summary>Episode 370: Bugging Out As A Philosophy(5-7-2013)...
Show Summary:
I believe in the concept of living in the ready. Time to go strategies to get my butt out of dodge when the SHTF. In the modern-day world, supported by fossil fuels, our system of dependence is only one sustained power outage away from disaster.

So on today's show, I will discuss the advantages of being able to get out of doge on the quick and why this is so important.

The reality of today's world, is that we need to prepare for as many contingencies as possible when faced with evacuating an area while trying to find safety.

Think about WWII, when Germany invaded Russia - imagine knowing in advance that the Germans were coming, but you could not get out

The Experiment
