Episode 83: Urban Combat…
Show Summary:
On today’s show we are going to discuss urban combat in a societal breakdown situation. I will be on honest, urban combat should be avoided at all cost. And that is why I feel it is necessary to discuss this subject today, as I feel that a person’s best interest is to egress out of an urban area before an emergency situation reaches critical mass. I believe that if a person or a family watches events closely enough, then they will have the advantage of knowledge of what the current situation is dictating. And if that situation dictates the need to move out of an area quickly, that option should be acted upon immediately.
However, I also understand that sometimes a person cannot leave an urban area for a variety of reasons and might have to escape from that situation through the use of arms. This is obviously a last ditch, desperate action. But in case that action becomes necessary, we should at least talk about possible tactics that can be used to extract yourself from a horrible event.

Look at the news on as many media outlets as mush as possible-stay up to date

At this moment-explore possible places to escape to and move through before a situation gets out of hand-this means recon the urban area where you live at

Plan your routes of egress on a map or on your computer, take a smart phone, GPS unit, or tablet PC with you and try to identify ahead of time the places that should be avoided

Do this with friends and do it at night

Why at night? Because your best chances for survival will be to move at night

Know your weapons, get training, acclimate to the weight of a full load out

Understand that urban combat has several disadvantages in comparison to combat in vegetation

An example of this would be contrasting colors and how a person’s body can be easily silhouetted against the colors of buildings

Also, there are many places to hide and observe large swaths of land in the urban environment, but not be seen
-
Traveling lite-as you might be forced to egress on foot if access on streets prohibiting the use of motor vehicles is cut off-keep weapons with you at all times, mags and stripper clips easily accessible on your body, and non-lethal tools close by as alternates
